Artwork Guidelines - Designing in Canva
Supplying Print Ready Artwork direct from Canva
If you are designing your artwork and using Canva then here is some info that you need to know.
Standard page sizes
We can print anything any size. But there are some standard sizes which you should try to adhere to, this ensures you get the best value for money.
- Business cards: 90mm x 55mm
- A6: 105mm x 148mm
- DL: 99mm x 210mm
- A5: 148mm x 210mm
- A4: 210mm x 297mm
- A3: 297mm x 420mm
- A2: 420mm x 594mm
- A1: 594mm x 841mm
Setting up the correct page size in Canva is easy. It is best to use the custom dimension setting.
Click: Create a design / Custom dimensions.
Be sure to set it to mm (not px). In this example we will do a standard business card which is 90 x 55mm
From there you can either start from scratch or use a template. We will use a template to make it easier.
Open the template and alter it as desired.
Note: It is important that you drag the borders out past the edge by a couple of mm (even though you can’t really see it) This is for items that go off the page and is what we call “bleed”
Once you are happy with the design it is time to save it.
Click: Publish / Download
Select – PDF PRINT
Select the checkbox for Crop Marks and Bleed
You should end up with a file that looks like this.
A PDF with trim marks and bleed (note how the blue boxes “bleed” off the page).
Just what we need to print!
You can email this file directly to us, we will make some small adjustments to ensure it is ready for print and hey presto! You did it.
